The Daily: Daylight Savings Time Monday

Monday, March 14, 2022

5:00 am: The alarm rudely woke me up. Monday after daylight savings time is horrible, more so than usual Mondays. Okay, get out of bed, go to gym.

5:30 am: Run on the treadmill, feel woozy from obsessing over how much I hate DST. Looking around while on treadmill, catch the eye of another gym goer, now I feel like a weirdo, like I am the person who stares at other people at the gym.

6:35 am: Running late getting ready. I have to get that kid up and ready for school. I thought by fourteen he would be able to manage opening his eyes on his own.

7:10 am: Waiting for that kid to get ready so we can face the lovely traffic on the way to school. Researching the history of dyeing the Chicago river green for St Patrick's day for The News With No Sound.

7:35 am: Pull kid out of the house and into the car, we are running five minutes behind, which isn't terrible considering it's the Monday after DST. Also, I am starving, it feels like dinner was a hundred years ago.

7:50 am: Push kid out of car by the sidewalk and tell him to be smart at school and have a good day. I rush off to the supermarket so we can eat something this week.

8:28 am: Left the supermarket with very little that I paid very much for, inflation is real shit. Although, I didn't really need those Cadbury Creme Eggs and Peeps. I DO need holidays with themed candy to come to an end because I can't stop myself from buying all that junk.

9:45 am: Finished breakfast and published first blog post of the day. I am going to finish grooming for the day by finally brushing my teeth and my hair, I think my hair probably needs to be brushed (of course I think of this after I was at the supermarket).

10:29 am: Cleaning the kid's room while he's at school, it has to happen,  if I wait too long a smell starts to emanate from in there into the rest of the house.

11:23 am: Husband brought us lunch again, Poke bowls today, I am really starting to like that guy.

12:33 pm: Grabbing Dietland and looking to get at least ten pages read, I am so close to finishing now.

2:10 pm: Grabbing the dog and hitting the road to pick the kid up from school, gotta leave very early if I want a parking spot anywhere near the school.

2:30 pm: Walking the dog in my son's school neighborhood, my iPhone never works in this neighborhood. I am trying to finish my Master Class with Shonda Rhimes but the stupid wheel keeps spinning, tried to switch to podcast but I keep getting an error message, so I guess it music today (Frank Turner Essentials).

2:40 pm: Saw a car with the most enormous bird poo on the windshield, why would you EVER park your car there again? It was sort of impressive.

3:30 pm: Snack time and homework. Well, his homework and my snack time.

5:45 pm: Dinner quickly, we have a school zoom meeting for the kids 9th grade school year. Holy hell, 9th grade?!

7:15 pm: This high school zoom meeting is f o r e v e r long. They are not selling excitement that's for sure. I even got a pen and paper to take notes but all I've done is doodle, horses in cowboy hats are very cute.

9:12 pm: Off to bed and to finish Dietland. I will conquer this paperback, besides it's from the library, they are going to want it back someday soon.
