The Daily: All The Lights are On

Tuesday, March 15, 2022

5:00 am: Good morning Tuesday. Feeling a little less of a zombie this morning, so that's a silver lining.

5:21 am: Thank God for my airpod pro earbuds, the music at my gym is so loud. This is like the most young person getting old person sentence I've ever written. It's kind of special.

5:32 am: News just showed a story about iphone facial recognition working with masks on now, just in time apple, right when we are starting to ditch masks. (Story idea for The News With No Sound?) Also, I feel terrible about what's happening in the Ukraine, but I do have to say their president...cha cha cha (you know what I mean?)

6:34 am: Day light savings time equals burning electricity time. Every light in the house is on, it is still so very dark outside.

7:51 am: Kid dropped off at school, time to head back home and eat some breakfast, I seriously don't

know how I've survived this long without food, I am so hungry.

8:58 am: Published blog post about the Chicago River being dyed green for St. Patrick's Day, ready to move off the couch and do something. Chores most likely, we dirty this house up quick.

9:11 am: Off the couch and out to the yard to continue to pull weeds, every time I finish one section of the yard another section has sprung up with new weeds. Holy Hell, I'll be pulling weeds in a perpetual loop forever, it's like Sisyphus, that's a thing right?

10:21 am: I would like to announce that I have officially finished Dietland! It was great but I am ready to move on to the next book. I've got to drop this current stack at the library this afternoon and grab a few new books.

11:32 am: My husband is the quietest loud person I've ever known. He speaks in low calm tones but sneezes in a register my ears cannot handle and bangs around the cupboards like a bird trapped in a house.

12:01 pm: Made lunch for myself like some kind of fool, I already miss having lunch brought to me. The lunch I made tasted good though.

12:45 pm: Cracked into a new book, Half Empty, by David Rakoff, and created a new list to pick up from the library when I go this afternoon. Also, want to go by the market and get another one of those good Coke Zeroes, customer for life? Time will tell.

2:15 pm: Picked up a new stack of books at the library and a DVD, I know I am old, remember the music was too loud at the gym today, but it's free to borrow a DVD...I am getting older by the minute.

2:31 pm: Took the dog for an uneventful walk, my phone did play my Master Class with Questlove, and I saw a very interesting choice of a mailbox stand.

3:30 pm: The kid is doing his homework eating peeps, I am just eating peeps.

4:00 pm: Checked the mail and got a notice from the DMV that I have to physically go into the DMV to renew my drivers license. I have to spend a morning at the DMV and pay them $39, I may just quit driving.

5:42 pm: The kid left to play basketball with his friend is just about to be late for dinner. Do I yell at him or do I overlook it? Overlooking it would be the easier way, just saying.

7:10 pm: Apply a face mask, the beauty kind not the Covid saftey kind, got ten minutes with this cold goop on my face.

8:08 pm: Watching the movie I borrowed from the library, Gifted, but I just realized it is 1 hours and 41 minutes long, meaning...I will be splitting it in two parts. I've got to get in that beauty sleep.
